Mustafa Kamal
A Bangladeshi economist with experience overseeing government and sporting organization financial controls, Mustafa Kamal is the country’s minister of finance and has been a cabinet minister of the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh since 2014. A three-time member of parliament, Mustafa Kamal was elected for the first time from the Comilla-9 constitutional seat in 1996 on a nomination by the Awami League party. He won an MP seat for the second time in 2008, again as an Awami League candidate.
During his tenure as an MP, Mustafa Kamal has held membership with the Public Accounts Committee, Privatization Commission, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance Ministry, Board of Investment, and Chittagong University Senate. He has also been Convener of the Comilla District Awami League since 2006. He has been involved in politics for more than 50 years, dating back to his time as a local Awami League leader during the six point movement of 1966.
Also a renowned cricket patron, Mustafa Kamal is a former president of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and Asian Cricket Council. He also presided over the ICC Audit Committee and Bangladesh Cricket Board. He holds a master’s degree in accounting from Dhaka University.
