Sri Mulyani Indrawati

Sri Mulyani Indrawati is Indonesia’s minister of finance and has served in this post since 2016. She also held the same position from 2005 to 2010. Between stints serving the government, Sri Mulyani Indrawati spent six years as managing director of the World Bank Group. Known as a tough reformist, she implemented strict measures to guide the largest economy in Southeast Asia through the 2007-10 financial crisis and addressed government corruption by firing dishonorable tax and customs officers.  

Sri Mulyani Indrawati has received several honors and accolades during her time as minister of finance. She was named Euromoney Finance Minister of the Year by Euromoney magazine in 2006 and was named Asia’s Finance Minister of the Year in 2007 and 2008 by Emerging Markets newspaper. She was named one of the vice heads of Indonesia’s National Research and Innovation Agency Steering Committee in 2021. 

In addition to her work with the Indonesian government and the World Bank Group, she is a former executive director of the board of the International Monetary Fund and consultant to the US Agency for International Development. She holds a master’s degree and doctorate in economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
