Arun Jaitley
A politician and attorney, the late Arun Jaitley worked in Indian politics for nearly three decades until his death in 2019. He last served the country as minister of finance, minister for corporate affairs, and minister of defense under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Among other actions during his tenure in these roles, Arun Jaitley oversaw the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax and demonetization of ₹500 and ₹1000 currency notes to help mitigate fake currency, black money, and corruption. He was also an advocate of constitutionally-guaranteed rights and was recommended by Out Leadership in 2017 as one of India’s strongest supporters of the LGBT+ community.
Dana Reizniece-Ozola
An experienced government official in the Republic of Latvia, Dana Reizniece-Ozola was its minister of finance from 2016 to 2019. She previously spent two years as its minister of economics. An Argentine government official with nearly three decades of banking and finance experience, Alfonso Prat-Gay is a former minister of economy in the South American country, serving under President Mauricio Macri. Among other measures implemented during his tenure, Alfonso Prat-Gay lifted capital controls on the country’s currency just six days after taking office. He also eliminated export taxes on mining as well as wheat, corn, fishing, and meat.

Sri Mulyani Indrawati
Sri Mulyani Indrawati is Indonesia’s minister of finance and has served in this post since 2016. She also held the same position from 2005 to 2010. Between stints serving the government, Sri Mulyani Indrawati spent six years as managing director of the World Bank Group. Known as a tough reformist, she implemented strict measures to guide the largest economy in Southeast Asia through the 2007-10 financial crisis and addressed government corruption by firing dishonorable tax and customs officers.
Mário Centeno
A distinguished economist and government official, Mário Centeno has served as Portugal’s minister of finance under Prime Minister António Costa since 2015. In this time, he has helped the country address its debt crisis by instituting actions such as raising wages and public pensions and strictly following European budget rules. Under Mário Centeno‘s fiscal leadership, Portugal experienced its lowest fiscal deficit in more than four decades. Moreover, the Parliament of Portugal approved its first budget with a surplus in nearly 50 years in 2020.
Mustafa Kamal
A Bangladeshi economist with experience overseeing government and sporting organization financial controls, Mustafa Kamal is the country’s minister of finance and has been a cabinet minister of the Government of the Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh since 2014. A three-time member of parliament, Mustafa Kamal was elected for the first time from the Comilla-9 constitutional seat in 1996 on a nomination by the Awami League party. He won an MP seat for the second time in 2008, again as an Awami League candidate.
Paschal Donohoe
Appointed Ireland’s minister of finance in 2017, Paschal Donohoe oversaw the country’s first budget surplus in more than a decade since the 2006 financial crisis and has dramatically increased spending via public tax increases. A staunch defender of the country’s 12.5 percent corporation tax, he put together the Roadmap on Corporation Tax in 2018 to detail actions Ireland needs to take to maintain balance with the changing international tax environment. Paschal Donohoe began his second term as minister of finance in June 2020.
